Cybersecurity: Better Manage Data and Network Security Risk       Presented by: Steve Carr & Mario Paez, Wells Fargo

The heart of a company is its information technology infrastructure. Every manufacturer, regardless of the product it provides, has some exposure to network and privacy risk.  To retain your competitive position it's important to have a strategy in place to help mitigate damage in the event  of a computer attack or priacy breach.  Data breaches, in any form, can lead to significant financial and reputational harm.

Apprenticeships Arrive for Manufacturers                                                 Presented by: Jim Nelson, IMA Education Foundation & Mario Kratsch, German-American Chamber of Commerce-Midwest

The IMA Education Foundation, the German-American Chamber of Commerce-Midwest and 11 community colleges around the state have partnered to implement a true German-style apprenticeship program producing Industrial Maintenance Technicians. Both durable and non-durable manufacturers will benefit significantly by having a fully qualified technician on staff. We'll also update you on all of our efforts to improve the quality of applicants seeking a career at your company.

Employee Benefits Compliance & Medical Marijuana                   Presented by: Adam Hackman & Brad Urhausen, MIS-360

Compliance in the employee benefits space is an ever-evolving exercise for manufacturers. While the ACA has been a hot button recently, manufacturers have a host of other compliance considerations to address when it comes to their employee benefits program. This includes the Employee Retirement Income Security Act (ERISA), which applies to retirement plans, health and welfare plans.  The Department of Labor stated that it intends to audit every health and welfare benefits plan in the U.S. by 2018.  We'll address the top area of compliance for you to manage in 2016.

Illinois has enacted legislation that legalizes marijuana to be used as a treatment for approved medical conditions. At the Federal level, marijuana is still classified as a Scheduled 1 drug which makes it illegal. As an employer are you prepared to manage this complex and confusing issue?

Ozone and New Air Emission Rules                                           Presented by: Jim Powell, Mostardi Platt

Determining  whether your business operates a regulated emission unit may be a complicated question that requires interpretation.  Similarly, questions requiring interpretation may arise in determining whether or not an "emission unit" qualifies for an exemption, how to calculate emission rates, the type of permit that is required and if you can utilize the Illinois EPA's registration of smaller sources (ROSS) program.
