So, does dining really matter anymore? Have we already done as much as we can in changing dining to be more resident directed? Why must we continue to move our systems forward in honoring resident choice in dining and in creating relationship-based dining service systems?

Participants will explore each topic (see agenda) through lively discussion, the experiences of staff and residents pioneering work and personal exercises. Using the guidance and challenges of the New Dining Practice Standards to guide our thought from Mazlov’s early work to creating The Kitchen as a Great Good Place in our residents’ lives, participants will leave feeling prepared to meet the challenges ahead in maximizing dining as a pleasure of their residents’ lives.
About the presenter
Linda Bump is a registered dietitian and licensed nursing home administrator who authored and presented the white paper, “The Deep Seated Issue of Choice,” for the CMS/Pioneer Network Creating Home II national symposia on Culture Change and the Food and Dining Requirements. Linda was a member of the Pioneer Network Task Force that developed the "New Dining Practice Standards" and also the new toolkit, which helps homes implement the new standards.
Cost: $120 for a single attendee; $99 each for multiple attendees (includes lunch)
Continuing education. The National Continuing Education Review Service (NCERS) of the National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long Term Care Administrators (NAB) has approved this program for 6 clock hours.
