Backyard Forestry in 90 Minutes 

"Backyard Forestry in 90 Minutes" is a FREE educational program series sponsored by Rutgers Cooperative Extension, State Forestry Services & the NJ Forestry Association.

"Tree Planting, Selection and Care" presented by Mike Vorwerk, Forest Nursery Manager, State Forestry Services.  

Learn about trees native to New Jersey and how to choose species to plant on your property.  Site selection, best planting practices, and methods for a high success rate will also be covered.  There will also be time for questions and answers.

There is NO CHARGE for this program, but due to limited space, registration is requested no later than two days prior (October 7th).  To register, click on the link below.

11/13 | Backyard Forest Maple Sugaring | Charlize Katzenbach, Sweet Sourland Farms

If you have a maple tree greater than 10" in diameter, you can tap it during "sugaring season" and boil down the liquid to make maple syrup.  Get started by learning when and where to tap, and the techniques and equipment needed to render this sweet treat.
