A hands-on presentation will explain membrane construction, considerations during membrane loading, and consquences of incorrect loading proceedures. The presenter will also explain the differences between various membrane types, the selection process based on feed water quality and desired water quality.

10:00 AM -10:15 AM Break

10:15 - Noon   Mo Malki, American Water Chemicals

The presenter will cover the basics of water chemistry and how it relates to membrane operations.  This presentation will also cover some basic membrane math as it relates to water chemistry.  The basics of scaling and fouling will be covered.

Noon - 1:00 PM   Lunch 

1:00 - 3:00 PM  Dave MacNevin, Tetratech

This presentation will explain membrane design basics and operational considerations. The presenter will discuss such topics such as staging/tapering, feed/interstage pressures, differential pressures, flow rates, and system monitoring.  Some case studies will also be presented as part of this section.
