Apps and Websites: Fostering Co-Engagement

  • Technology has become ubiquitous in K-12 learning.  Yet, with over 10,000 educational apps and websites, it is difficult to discern which ones make the most sense for use with students the classroom.

  • Many district leaders have started using the Triple E Framework (endorsed in an upcoming book by ISTE and Heinemann) as a tool to help teacher's learn to leverage technology to meet learning goals, focusing on the learning first and technology second.

  • This workshop will share the practical framework of how to quickly evaluate apps and websites for creating authentic learning inside and outside of the classroom.

  • In particular we will look at co-use, time on task, value-added, and real world application.

  • Using the Triple E Framework, we will consider how good instructional practices can couple with educational apps and websites to create a magic mix for leveraging learning.

  • This will be a hands-on workshop, where we will use the Triple E rubrics and share examples of how districts are using the Triple E Framework to further education technology to allow teachers to create opportunities for effective learning based on the National Education Technology Plan!
