Expert Series: Creating a Workplace Culture of Unstoppable Positivity - Gainesville (01/18/17)

The Spirit of UBUNTU—The Keys to Creating a Workplace Culture of Unstoppable Positivity

“If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

This highly-engaging and memorable 3-hour workshop will introduce the audience to the team enhancing concept of UBUNTU. Additionally, Shola will introduce the eight transformative keys of UBUNTU, and how anyone can use those keys to make a lasting positive change on his/her work team regardless of job rank, years of experience, level of education or professional title—starting today. Also, Shola will present a strategy to help the participants to deal more effectively with the most difficult people in their lives, while also providing them with additional tools to ensure that the participants stay committed to putting these eight keys into action long after the workshop ends.

Learning Objectives

  • Define UBUNTU and identify the eight keys to create an environment of unstoppable positivity
  • Discover a five-step communication model for delivering corrective feedback to others (including to your peers and bosses) that will greatly reduce the probability of the “feedback receiver” becoming angry or defensive (and what to do if the receiver does become angry or defensive)
  • Identify key techniques for effectively dealing with people who are challenging, rude, and disruptive—inside and outside of work.
  • Discover how to deliver meaningful recognition, and describe how it can increase productivity, boost morale, and have a lasting effect on any work team

Expert Facilitator: Shola Richards

Shola Richards’ life’s mission is an ambitious one: To end generations of professional suffering, simply by changing how we treat each other at work. Whether it is helping people to deal with soul-destroying bully bosses, passive-aggressive coworkers, or toxic work cultures that value competition and profit more than they value teamwork and their people—Shola is committed to leading the worldwide movement that will change all of it.

Shola is a dynamic keynote speaker, a workplace positivity expert, an award-winning Director of Training, author, and positivity blogger with a passionate worldwide following. His articles have been read by readers in over 160 countries, and his work has been featured in the Huffington Post, Black Enterprise, Complete Wellbeing India, Business Insider Australia, and in numerous other publications all over the world who recognize him as an authority on workplace happiness and engagement. In September 2016, Shola will share his positive message from his upcoming book, Making Work Work, as the keynote speaker for the Department of Homeland Security in Washington DC—just three days before the 15th Anniversary of 9/11.

Last, but certainly not least, Shola is a father, husband, identical twin, and a self-professed “kindness extremist” who will not rest until bullying and incivility is extinct from the American workplace.
