June 26–30, 2017
Model United Nations, also known as Model UN or MUN, is a fun activity in which students role-play as delegates to the United Nations and simulate the work of UN committees. Participants in this camp will practice their research, public speaking, conflict resolution, negotiation, and writing skills. During the camp, students will be introduced to the basics of the role of a Model UN delegate. This will include how to write a position paper as well as delegate etiquette. The delegates will represent UN member nations, both individually and as teams, and will brainstorm solutions for a variety of scenarios: both modern and future crises. We will travel to New York City and tour the UN Headquarters to learn first-hand how the UN addresses the issues of peace, security, and human rights. These student led activities will build participants confidence and leadership skills, while having fun and meeting new people!
