Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support Certification Training

This full-day certification training on the Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support will instruct on the following approaches: 

  • How to apply the 9 Principles of Family Support in your day to day practice
  • Integrate the Strengthening Families Approach throughout your organization
  • Enhance your work with families by applying the evidence-informed 5 Protective Factors

Whether you are setting up a new program or strengthening an existing one, the Standards provide a blueprint for implementing best practice.  

These Standards, adopted for use nationwide by the National Network of Family Support and Strengthening Networks, create a common language and expectations for quality work with families across many different kinds of programs such as family resource centers, home visiting programs, and early care and education programs.   

Participants are highly encouraged to come as teams with Executive Directors, Managers, Coordinators, and Direct Service Staff, as each has a key role to play in implementing the Standards effectively.  Those who complete the full session will receive certificates from the National Network of Family Support and Strengthening Networks that are valid for two years.*  

Continental breakfast, coffee, lunch, and materials are included. Check-in and continental breakfast with coffee will begin at 8:30 AM.  The training will begin promptly at 9:00 AM, and doors will close at that time.  Please plan accordingly, as latecomers will not receive certificates.

About the Standards:
The Standards of Quality for Family Strengthening & Support were issued by the California Network of Family Strengthening Networks (CNFSN) in 2012, and adopted by the National Family Support Network in 2013. They are the first and only standards in the country to integrate and operationalize the Principles of Family Support Practice with the Strengthening Families Frameworks and its research-based evidence-informed 5 Protective Factors. The vision is that their implementation will help ensure that families are supported and strengthened through quality practice.

*If you were certified in 2014 or before, then attending this training will meet the certification renewal requirement.
