Starting Sunday, January 1, ICD teachers Larry Yang, Cheryl Slean and Ian Challis will offer daily evening sits and teachings, capped by a full day of mindfulness on January 7, and ending with our regular Sunday sit on the 8th. Come join us to deepen your practice in a non-residential retreat, right here in our home community.

Cheryl Slean, MA, CMF has been practicing Buddhist meditation since 1995 and studying in the Theravadan tradition since 1998. In 2007, she received authorization to teach from Rodney Smith of Seattle Insight (SIMS) and began offering classes and daylong retreats, as well as participating in research and education on meditation and chronic pain, stress relief, and substance addiction. She recently completed additional teacher training with Noah Levine at Against the Stream and received her Certification in Mindfulness Facilitation from the UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center (M
Ian Challis began a committed dharma practice in 2005. He has sat retreats and studied with Rodney Smith, Narayan Liebenson, Leigh Brasington, Santikaro, Larry Yang, Joseph Goldstein among many others. He works as an artist and product designer. He is a founding board member and past president of Insight Community of the Desert and leads the Desert Meditation Group in Rancho Mirage. Ian is currently participating in the two year Community Dharma Leader training at Spirit Rock Meditation Center.
