Capitol 'Fly-in' March 14-15 Sacramento

CalAPA members are encouraged to attend our annual "Fly-in" to the state Capitol in Sacramento, where you can meet face-to-face with elected officials and key legislative staffers to discuss transportation funding and other issues of importance to the asphalt pavement industry in California.

This year's Fly-in is particularly important because there are two bills in the Legislature that could Jon Layne at the Capitol provide billions more in transportation funding for the state each year and help address the deteriorating streets and highways in California. The Legislature and the Governor have set an April 6 deadline to act on these bills, so the timing of this year's Fly-in couldn't be more perfect.

The Fly-in will begin on Tuesday, March 14 at noon at the Esquire Grille restaurant in downtown Sacramento with a lunch and briefing by CalAPA's advocate, Jeff Sievers, on the latest on the transportation bills, as well as other bills the association is monitoring and may have a position on. The afternoon of Day 1 will be filled with appointments with elected officials and key legislative staffers.

There will be an optional dinner Tuesday night at Morton's Steakhouse, 621 Capitol Mall from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m., just a few blocks from the state Capitol. The Fly-in will resume the morning of Wednesday, March 15 with additional Capitol appointments. It will conclude at noon.

All participants will be provided with briefing materials, which will include talking points, schedule of appointments and other reference information.

Cost to the attend the Fly-in is $59 and includes lunch at the Esquire Grille. An optional dinner at Morton's Steakhouse, 621 Capitol Mall, is an additional $99. Contact CalAPA for sponsorship opportunities.
