Summary of Presentations:
Less Commonly Encountered Roof Coverings - Fiberglass shingles account for about sixty percent of the residential roof covering market. So what are you going to do about the other forty percent? Inspectors can't ignore these less commonly encountered roof coverings. This course will give you the tools you need to identify these roof coverings and perform a basic inspection. Roof coverings covered (pun intended) include metal shingles, metal panels, and single-ply membranes such as modified bitumen and EDPM.
It's A Gas helps relieve that queasy feeling you sometimes get when inspecting gas appliances and their associated components, especially those new direct-vent appliances. Learn how to identify and report defects involving combustion air, gas vents, chimneys, clearances to combustible materials, and gas piping and delivery systems. You'll also learn some fun facts about gas and combustion. Illustrations and pictures will help you visualize defects and audience participation will be encouraged to help you learn and retain the information.
The Legal Landscape - Home inspection is a business. As a business person, you operate in a legal and regulatory environment that places requirements on how you conduct your inspections and how you deal with your clients. Failure to understand these requiements can mean "Game Over" for your business, and possibly your family's financial security. This class helps you understand how this legal and regulatory system works, and the requirements placed on your business. It will also present some methods and procedures to help you deal with these requirements.
Stucco and Adhered Masonry Veneer are wall coverings that you see almost every day, especially when inspecting newer houses. Clients expect that you have a thorough knowledge of these wall coverings including correct installation techniques and typical defects. This course will give you the tools you need to perform the type of inspection that clients expect. You will also learn basic information about EIFS and how it is different from stucco.
