Instructor: Kelsey Middlebrook

Beginning Thursday February 16th.

This Class will meet for 5 weeks every other Thursday

Early sign up class fee is $10

You are invited to join us for a fun, stress free basic drawing class,

give yourself the skills to allow your imagination to soar!

Kelsey Middlebrook received her degree in Fine Art and History of Art and Visual Culture at U.C. Santa Cruz, with internships at U.C. Santa Cruz’s Sesnon Gallery and de Young Museum of San Francisco.

Kelsey has utilized her knowledge & skills instructing painting, drawing and mixed media art. She is currently teaching adults with developmental disabilities at Sophie's Gallery in El Cajon.

If you have pencils and paper bring it along to class if not we will supply your needs and give you a small materials list for the next session.

Here's what Kelsey had to say about the class:

"When you conquer the key skills to drawing, you no longer feel pressure on “how” to draw, and embrace the freedom of visualizing your ideas. You won’t be burdened by insecurities because we will train the ability to find comfort in learning, making mistakes, correcting mistakes, or embracing mistakes. Creativity is something that comes naturally. In this class, harnessing technique will release your inner artist until it becomes second nature!"

Each class will build on the last. We start the first half learning a new skill, then spend the second half creating individual goals and projects. It is encouraged to spend time on these projects at home but I will leave this up the person and their comfort level. We will create a take-home “cheat sheet” in a paper portfolio that collects your new found knowledge.

Feel free to bring in pieces that inspire you (ex. Books, photos, old art, new art, objects, memories) and bring in samples of your style.

Key terms you will hear and learn about in class = shapes, shading, cross hatching, contour, ink, perspective, still life, figure drawing, composition, trimetric system, texture, pattern, background, middle ground, foreground, and many more.

Thank you for your time and look forward to your participation.

Space is limited so please register for week one asap to avoid dissapointment. Class fee is only $10.00 per lesson for early girls!

You can also register by stopping by the gallery or calling 619-461-4440.

As always thanks for opening our emails and Thanks for your support of small business and local art.

With much love
