PlayMakers QB and WR Academy 

 

PlayMakers Academy is for HS QBs andWRs that are comitted to reaching their fullest potential. Our comprehensive and intensive 8 week training program will combine professional speed and agility training with QB/WR specific skills training.

A typical day at PlayMakers Academy:

•0800-0810 – Dynamic Warm Up (E.A.T.S)
•0810-0835 – Speed and Agility Training (E.A.T.S)
•0835–0900 -  QB/WR Skill Training (Coach Brenkus and Belkin)
•0900-0920 – Joint QB/WR training exercise (Coach Belkin and Brenkus)
•0920-0930 – Cool Down, Chalk Talk/Leadership Series, Shakes
Proffessional Speed/Agility training from E.A.T.S 
  • E.A.T.S Speed, Agility, and Conditioning (SAC) Program is a professionally designed and implemented training program specifically aimed to improve each athlete's Acceleration, Deceleration and Change of Direction skills, First Step Explosiveness, Linear Speed, Reaction Time (Visual and Auditory), LateralQuickness, Physical and Mental Toughness, and Sport Specific Conditioning Level!
QB Training
Throwing mechanics : How to properly hold the football; wrist & elbow placement, throwing from the pocket,
throwing on the run, and how to speed up your release.
Footwork: One step quick throws, three & five step drops, sprint out, and throwing out of the gun.
Ball Handling Skills: Executing handoff & proper play-action passing mechanics and how to “sell’ the fake
to the defense in the play-action passing game. 
Understanding defenses and fronts: Learn basic defensive coverages, how to determine man vs. zone,
and how to read defenses
Putting it all together: Understanding how it all fits together on the field in simple game like situation
WR Training

Stance and Release: Develop a strong football stance that minimizes false steps and increases your ability for a quick and clean release. Learn to use hands and feet to beat a press defender. Gain the competitive advantage by ALWAYS being the first off the ball.

Route Running: Precise routes, great footwork result in separation and most importantly open WR’s.  Thousands of WR’s are fast, but the greats study the art of route running and are dedicated to learning and  perfecting the art.

 Receiving/Ball Skills and Yards After Catch (YAC): You touch it, you catch it.  You will learn how to put your hands and body in the proper position to maximize the catch probability. Develop the mentality that when the ball is in the air, it is yours for the taking.

 Blocking: WRs will learn the fundamentals and importance of perimeter, run and stalk blocking. 

 Personal Video Analysis: Each week players will be recorded peforming a specifical skill.  The coaching staff will provide detailed analysis of each players postives and areas that need improvement.

Leadership Development and Chalk Talks: Post workout meeting will focus around two central themes.  Leadership developement and chalk talks that examine Offensive strategies and Defensive schemes.
