NEFLIN Marketing & Outreach Interest Group - High Springs (06/14/17) 

The nature of libraries has dramatically changed over the years, but one question has remained: how do we convince our audience to recognize our worth? This interest group is dedicated to the multi-faceted goals of library marketing, outreach, and advocacy. Marketing and outreach includes developing events, programs and workshops; creating promotional materials or writing a marketing plan; fostering partnerships and collaborations with local groups and communities; and simply increasing awareness of library services, resources and collections. If you're looking for lively discussions on how best to promote your library and improve your reach, this interest group is for you!

Facilitator: Maria Atilano, Thomas G. Carpenter Library at UNF

Maria Atilano is the Marketing and Student Outreach Librarian at the University of North Florida’s Thomas G. Carpenter Library in Jacksonville, Florida. She began working in academic libraries in 2002 as a student employee while studying at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She graduated with her MLIS from Florida State University in 2012. Maria’s professional interests include social media, marketing, graphic design, student outreach, instruction, and reference services.
