Everything You Wanted To Know About Judaism But Didn’t Know Who to Ask

Thursdays, March 16 - May 25 at 7:00 p.m.

Dive deep into Jewish faith, wisdom, history and tradition in this interactive and relaxed seminar perfect for both those who went to Hebrew School and those who did not, as well as anyone raising Jewish children or considering conversion. Significant others and interfaith couples welcome. No previous knowledge necessary. Please consider signing up for Prayer Hebrew Level I that immediately follows at 7:45 pm.

Conversational Hebrew

Wednesdays beginning January 18 at 7:45 p.m.

This is an intermediate level class, with emphasis on grammar, conversational Hebrew, and vocabulary acquisition led by Master Teacher and native Israeli, Ora Fisch. This class is a continuation of the class held this past spring, but newcomers are welcome.

Fee: $45 members; $75  non-members  

Prayer Hebrew I

Thursdays beginning March 16 at 7:45 p.m.

This beginner class builds prayer Hebrew reading fluency and some basic vocabulary focusing on Friday evening services.  Fee includes the text book: Shalom Aleichem

Crises and Conflicts: America, the Middle East, and International Concerns

 Beth Shalom is pleased to welcome two major international experts to address contemporary issues of critical concern. These lectures will be moderated by Rabbi Susan Grossman. 

Ambassador Stuart Eizenstat: Challenges Ahead for the Jewish World

Sunday, March 19 at 7:30 p.m. 

Renowned American diplomat Stuart Eizenstat will address the strategic issues facing Israel (Iran, the BDS movement, and the peace process), US-Israel relations in the new Trump Administration, and the American and Diaspora Jewish communities (terrorism and assimilation) in what promises to be a powerful and insightful evening.

Ambassador Eizenstat served as the United States Ambassador to the European Union from 1993 to 1996 and as the United States Deputy Secretary of the Treasury from 1999 to 2001. He currently serves as Special Adviser on Holocaust Issues for the State Department with particular involvement in Holocaust reparations.

 Samuel M. Witten: Refugee Crisis and Immigration Policy

Sunday, April 2 at 7:30 p.m. 

In what promises to be a thought provoking and timely program, Samuel M. Witten will discuss the role the US and other countries play in addressing global refugee relief, our government’s long standing refugee resettlement program, and his own experience at the State Department in helping to address the Iraqi and Syrian refugee crises and admission of refugees to the United States.

Mr. Witten has served with distinction in key positions in the State Department dealing with counterterrorism, war crimes and immigration and refugee policy. He was the number two person in charge of all State Department legal matters, including dealing with human rights and refugee issues.This series is co-sponsored with Men's Club
