The Wissa Lecture series has been created in honor of the late Dr. Anwar Wissa, the longtome President of Ardaman & Associates and an internationally recognized expert in geotechnical engineering. The proceeds from this event will provide support students interested in pursuing careers in the geotechnical engineering and construction field.

The festivities will begin at 4:30 PM with a welcome reception for networking, viewing student posters and sponsor displays. The main event and dinner will begin at 6:30 PM.

This year's presenter is

"LESSONS LEARNED FROM FAILED MSE WALLS"

During the past two decades, mechanically stabilized earth (MSE) walls have gained acceptance in major and critical applications. Generally, MSE walls are economical, aesthetically pleasing and, if properly designed and constructed, safe. However, as is the typical case with fine-tuned structures, details are critically important as the structural redundancy could be limited. Several case histories of failed MSE walls will be presented and forensic studies will be discussed.
