Cactus Bar and Grill will hold their 5th annual crawfish eating contest for charity on Tuesday, February 17th. This Fat Tuesday event encourages competitors to consume three pounds of crawfish in the fastest amount of time possible. All proceeds, including the $20 entrance fee, will benefit K9 4 KEEPS, a Chicago based volunteer dog rescue.
Contestants will be divided into heats, and the winner of each heat will compete in a final round. All competitors will receive an official Crawfish Contest t-shirt and Hurricane cocktail in a souvenir pint glass. First place will be awarded a $100 gift certificate to Cactus Bar and Grill, second place a "Hurricanes at Home" gift basket to take Mardi Gras home with you, and third place a cooler stocked with Abita Beer. Plenty of Mardi Gras accessories, such as beads and masks, will be passed out to the crowd.
Cactus will offer a variety of specials throughout Fat Tuesday week. $1 from each special will be donated to K9 4 KEEPS.
