Road deaths related to speeding vehicles are far too commonplace. In year 2011, 9,944 people in the United States, 615 in Pennsylvania, died in speeding-related accidents, according to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
PenTrans has assembled a panel of experts to discuss speed cameras - new technology that is being used nationally and internationally to enforce speed laws. Speed cameras are currently illegal in Pennsylvania, but legislation is pending to permit their usage in Philadelphia.
