Come join us for an enlightening afternoon with the distinguished poet, essayist and scholar, Dr. Elizabeth Alexander.
Dr. Alexander, who wrote and recited the poem "Praise Song for the Day" at President Obama's historical 2009 inauguration, is the inaugural Frederick Iseman Professor of Poetry and Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets at Yale University. She is also former chair of African-American Studies at Yale.
Her critically-acclaimed memoir, "The Light of the World," as highlighted in the May 2015 issue of Essence magazine as "a deeply intimate and lyrical portrait of Black love at its best," is a beautifully written book of finding and losing love then finding oneself.
