Strategic Communication for Water Quality Issues Workshop

The workshop on Strategic Communication for Water Quality Issues will provide best practices and lessons learned for conveying technical information to the public featuring presentations on the sceintific background of technical issues, regulations and case studies.  Water system operators and managers will learn strategies and approaches to effectively communicate information about water quality issues and protective measures to the public and other affected organizations.  They will gain knowledge from learning how other communities have responded to water quality problems of different types, including E. coli events, algal blooms in water supplies, and distribution system inorganic contaminant release.

Cost is $95 per attendee for individual or utility members of AWWA or WEF  - $120 after Thursday September 1st

$120 per attendee for non-members of AWWA or WEF - $145 after Thursday September 1st

Fee includes lunch and refreshments

Registration closes on Thursday September 8th

Small System Operators and Student Scholarships - To encourage participation from small utilities (less than 500 connections) and from college, university and technical program students, workshop registration fees are waived for 3 operators from small utilities and any student.  To be eligible for a small systems scholarship please register and pay for the workshop and on the registration form indicate the utility name and number of connections.  If your registration is one of the first three received, your registration fee will be refunded following completion of the workshop.  First Come - First Served.  

To be eligible for a student scholarship please register online and list your institution, click "pay by check" and phone or email the contact in the upper left column for further information.

Cancellation Policy - If a registrant is unable to attend the event and a substitute within the organization can attend, please contact Jeff Lundt at jeff.lundt@kingcounty.gov to update information.  If unable to attend or send a substitute contact the above at least one week before the event for a refund (minus a $20 processing fee).  Refunds after that time will not be given.

If the workshop is cancelled due to lack of registration or another reason, full refunds will be provided.
