About Shanda Maloney:
Shanda Maloney has 16 years of marketing experience, working her way up from marketing coordinator for Comcast, the largest cable provider in the country, to her current position as the Digital and Marketing Director for the UFC, the fastest growing sports organization in the world.
She learned early on in her career that her passion was working in live events and had an opportunity to live out her dream as the Marketing and Promotions Director for 4 radio stations in Arizona. There's nothing like creating a lasting memory for a fan. Everyone will always remember their first concert or meeting their favorite band/artists.
Shanda was recruited to Las Vegas in 2007 to head up Cox Communications Marketing team and shortly after arriving in Las Vegas, she realized she missed working around live events, so she decided to write down her next 5 year and 10 year goals.
1). Continue to grow with Cox-move to Atlanta and work for Corporate.
2). Get back in the music industry/ work for Coachella/Goldenvoice for some other major promoter.
3). Sports Marketing (UFC).
She wrote down #3 as a complete swag with no idea how to even make that connection to get in with UFC, she just thought it would be a cool job. 13 months later, UFC recruited her from Cox Communications after a lead from Starz Movie Channel who had worked with her at Cox. Shanda just celebrated her 5 year anniversary and has worked her way from Affiliate Marketing Manager to heading up all Social Media Strategy for the company globally. There is no off season with the UFC and every single day presents a new challenge, from fight cards changing to discovering a new celebrity fan has tweeted to the UFC or about a UFC fighter. Her job is to maximize every opportunity and turn every stone, you never know where the next big win will come from.
