Home is the foundation of a vibrant community like Palm Beach County. Unfortunately for many residents, housing is a source of stress rather than respite. The strain is felt at all levels from those who are have homes, but are struggling, to homeless people who have no place to safely lay their head each night.
In Palm Beach County, more than 150,000 people are cost burdened, meaning they pay more than 30% of their income on their housing with many paying more than 50%. They are joined by the thousands of individuals and families who only have temporary places to stay, if any place at all. Every person in our community is affected by increased costs and a diminished quality of life for all.
This challenge will take a multifaceted, coordinated approach that will involve ALL housing stakeholders. We will need to work together to craft solutions and take full advantage of funding opportunities and resources as they arise.
