Simple Steps to Starting Your Business

A series of five workshops that identify important topics for starting your own successful small business. Get started growing your own business! Including: Start Up Basics, Business Concept, Marketing, Financial Projections and Funding Sources.

Because the classes build on each topic, SCORE recommends you attend all five classes however, if you are not available for all five one or two can be of great benefit. Classes are free but registration required. 

Workshop Schedule

March 27: Session 1 |  Start Up Basics | Jerry Myers
An introductory workshop focusing on the basics of testing a business idea and identifying the skills and tools needed to launch a startup.   

April 3: Session 2 | Business Concept | John Fleming
The second workshop focuses on the business concept and the step-by-step guidance in researching the idea, the market, and the competition. 

April 10: Session 3 | Marketing | Jerry Myers
The third workshop provides you with the marketing communication methods and tools to maximize your customer reach.  At the end of this session, you will know how to get more customers to buy. 

April 17: Session 4 | Financial Projections | John Dittrich
The fourth session will review sales and prices, financial risks and rewards, true startup costs, ongoing operating expenses, setting benchmarks for tracking progress, and organization of all your financial information. 

April 24: Session 5 | Funding Sources | Deborah Bellotti
In the final session, you will learn about accounting and bookkeeping systems, sources of capital, the six C’s of credit, and banking relations. You will also conduct a financial statement analysis and determine the next steps on your path to starting a business.
