The University Club will count down to 2017 by hosting a return engagement from Albany-based theater collective Creative License. The event will be held on Friday, December 30, 2016, at the National Register-listed University Club of Albany, 141 Washington Avenue. One need not be a member to attend.
Creative License presents: TIMELINE : 3 Toasts - 2 People - 1 Future
As we celebrate the passing of one year and the beginning of another, Creative License and The University Club Foundation are pleased to present "Timeline" - Three stories, all taking place on New Year's Eve across the last century, which encompass the sense of hope, excitement and potential for adventure that comes with every Auld Lang Syne. Actors Meigg Jupin and Steve Maggio inhabit three different couples in three different eras, experienciing love, loss and the enduring promise of tomorrow.
You'll revel in this time traveling experience while simultaneously savoring a delicious dinner from the University Club. The evening begins with a reception and cash bar at 6:00 p.m., a delicious buffet dinner starting at 6:30, and the performance commencing at 7:15 p.m. with a trip back to the start of 1900, written by Casey Polomaine. The second performance is set on the cusp 1950, written by Aaron Holbritter, and will be performed in the Club’s living room and feature a dessert buffet. The third and final play by Evan Jones is set in the waning moments of 1999, and will feature a champagne toast.
The cost for the performance and reception is $60 per ticket. Last year, the Creative License event Divided, presented at the University Club on New Year’s Day, sold out. Reservations are required by Wednesday, December 28 and may be made by calling the Club at 518-463-1151; by sending an email to ellen@universityclubalbany.com; or online at www.universityclubalbany.com .
Creative License was founded by local theater artists Aaron Holbritter and Casey Polomaine in March of 2014 to meet the need for a theatrical group in the Capital Region that would break down the barriers between the artistic world and the general public. They focus on the written word and the honest, rich performances of its actors, and have already enjoyed critical acclaim for A Steady Rain and Dog Sees God: Confessions of a Teenage Blockhead, both presented at The Albany Barn.
This event is presented by the University Club Foundation, a 501c3 corporation, and the Terri Boor Cultural Programming Fund, established to support the social, cultural and historic preservation programs of the University Club Foundation, including maintenance of the University Club as a venue for visual and performing arts.
