Join the AIA Central Utah Section as we discuss the upcoming 2012 International Building Code that will be the adopted building code for the State of Utah beginning July 1, 2013. This course will discuss the major changes/updates made from the 2009 IBC, including the amendments to the 2012 IBC made by the Utah State Legislature.
We will also discuss the impact of the adoption of the 2012 International Energy Conservation Code.
Learn about the changes in organization and code requirements and the applicability of these requirements to design, plan review and inspection. The background behind many of the changes will be discussed to provide the participant with an understanding of the intent of the changes and how to apply them to their everyday work. Roger Evans retired from Salt Lake City Building Services and Licensing in 2003 after thirty-one years of Service. After taking the weekend off, he went to work for Park City Building Department as the Assistant Building Official. He was the last chairman of the International Conference of Building Officials and was involved in the merging of the three (3) model code organizations in the United States and served on the first board of directors of the International Code Council and the International Fire Code Council along with numerous national committees for the respective code organizations. Locally he was on the Architectural Advisory Committee for the Utah Building Codes Commission from 1989 to 2004 on served on the board of directors for the Rocky Mountain Gas Association, Neighborhood Housing Services and the Utah Chapter of Building Officials. Roger was appointed to the Utah Seismic Safety Commission in 2006 and has served the past three (3) years as the chairman of the Commission.
