Creating Trauma Informed Environments: For Decision Makers

Dr. Maggie Bennington-Davis, MD, MMM

Description:

Appropriate for decision makers in education, youth justice, child welfare, and children’s mental health, this day-long program will begin by describing the impact of trauma and violence on the developing brain, and teaching about the Adverse Childhood Experiences study; then linking this information to the work we do. There will be time for reflection on how this information pertains to us as we attempt to deliver services and on the cultures in which we work. Later on in the day there will be specific examples of trauma informed practices and an opportunity to reflect on how these and others may be helpful to those we serve, our organizations, and ourselves.
