Motivational Interviewing,

an Evidence-Based Training 

Description

This intensive and interactive workshop will introduce participants to essential Motivational Interviewing (MI) processes and skills, concentrating on small group practice exercises. Participants will also learn skills for recognizing, eliciting and reinforcing change talk, as well as responding to discord.

Objectives

  • Describe the four processes of Motivational Interviewing (MI).

  • Describe the elicit-provide-elicit strategy for autonomy supportive information exchange.

  • Identify at least three sources of interpersonal discord that complicate conversations.

  • Help others enhance importance, confidence and readiness for change.

Presenter: Ali Hall, JD, Member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT)

Ali Hall (JD) is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and an independent consultant and trainer. Ali has designed and facilitated over eight hundred Motivational Interviewing workshops for health care practitioners, behavioral health clinicians, psychologists, psychiatrists and criminal / juvenile justice professionals, and provides training for trainers in evidence-based practices. Ali provides MI coding and skill development coaching, and provides consultation to systems for effective MI implementation. Ali also serves as a reviewer for the National Registry for Evidence-Based Practices and Programs (NREPP). Ali spent her undergraduate years at Occidental College in Los Angeles, and completed her graduate studies in organizational behavior at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations at Cornell University as well as her J.D. at the Cornell University School of Law. In her spare time, Ali is a cold water marathon swimmer, raising funds for at-risk kids’ charities.

Cancellation Policy: Written cancellation must be received in our office at least ten working days prior to the training. A $25.00 processing fee will be deducted from your refund. Otherwise, a voucher will be given. If you do not notify us a minimum of ten business days prior to the training of your intent to cancel, you will not receive a refund or credit.

CBPS solely is responsible for all aspects of the program. NBCC Provider #5763; approved by the National Association of School Psychologists, approval #1067; approved by the Board of Behavioral Sciences in California to offer CEUs for MFCCs and LCSWs. Approval #PCE 1466. CBPS maintains responsibility for this training.
