Build-It Day!

Saturday, December 5, 2015

Come learn and have fun with us!

The family of Ecobot teachers and students get together for a wild n wacky day of robot fun.   We will divide up into skill levels after opening ceremony and begin practicing for the 1:30 competition in which we will judge teams on what they have learned and practiced that day.   This event is PERFECT for the beginner who has never built a bot AND perfect for those who are ready for the BIG challenge.  We will divide our pods into Academy, Beginner, Intermediate, and Advanced.

  1. Academy - learners who have never opened up a robot box before, have no knowledge of programming or building.  The basics.
  2. Basic - learners are those who have some exposure such as robot built but need basic programming such as fwd, rev, and turn.
  3. Intermediate - learners who can do all the actions in basic, but need sensor tech help.
  4. Advanced - learners who have learned all of the skills in Beginner thru Intermediate, but are ready for gyro sensing, switches, loop commands, and alternative uses for sensor tech.

*VERY IMPORTANT – Teachers, prior to arrival, please group your teams according to skill level.  Teams of 3 or 4 are requested.   Example:  group your 3 beginners together, 4 advanced together, etc...   AND, let us know in the registration system how many students you expect to attend in each category.

What to Bring:

  • No less than a 1 teacher/chaperone per 10 student ratio.
  • Bring your own lunch or purchase lunch at registration for $5 (pizza, snack, bottled water).
  • Bring 1 robot kit (nxt or ev3) with base robot already built ‘preferrably’.
  • Bring a laptop for each team to use.  Download robot programming language prior to arrival, however if that is an issue, we can help.   If you do not have the software for download, contact us.  Jpaneitz@gmail.com.    Up to 2 teams could use 1 laptop if you're short on laptops.   Make sure you have admin password for those who need help downloading software at the event.
  • Comfortable clothes
  • Snacks, however there will be concessions.
  • A smile
  • Kids that are eager to learn robotic technology in a fun light-hearted environment.
