Register Now for Our 15th Annual

South Plains Career Expo!

Dear Business/Postsecondary Partners:

On behalf of the Workforce Solutions South Plains organization, we would like to invite you to participate in our 15th Annual South Plains Career Expo on October 8th from 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. We have extended the time of this event due to the number of high schools and students attending and having a limited time to spend with exhibitors. Therefore, the event will begin at 8:30 a.m. - 12:00 noon and then lunch will be provided for you from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m by LEDA. The event will then continue from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. You will be able to set up in the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center's Exhibit Hall and Pedestrian Mall areas on October 7th from 9:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. and on October 8th beginning at 7:30 a.m. Two weeks before the event, we will send you a map on where you will be located at the Civic Center. A continental breakfast will also be available in the Hospitality Room the morning of the event.

During the career expo, students and educators will have an opportunity to discuss first-hand the many career and educational opportunities in your areas. Remember that the Career Expo allows you to be creative and interactive with students through your booth. Students are attracted to booths that are interesting and hands-on. When you are planning your booth for the this career expo, try to incorporate these components into your exhibit. Many business partners find success by partnering with the postsecondary program that provides the educational training for the career. South Plains College, Lubbock Christian University, Wayland Baptist University, and Texas Tech University can be great partners to help you provide a fun, interactive booth. We are expecting more than 5,000 area high school junior and senior students to attend this event to learn more about the career and educational opportunities in our region. To date, with your support and partnership, we have brought together more than 55,000 area high school students that have been exposed to hundreds of career and educational opportunties.

Tips for New Exhibitors Preparing for the Expo:

  • Interactive, hands-on exhibits are ideal
  • Showcase your chosen career field rather than just your organization/business
  • Partner with postsecondary to enhance your booth
  • Think outside the box and be creative with your exhibit
  • Bring enough colleagues to help you out at the Expo because with 5,000 students coming through, you will need extra help to speak with students
