NEFLIN Makerspaces Interest Group - NEFLIN (04/21/17) 

The Makerspaces Interest Group is designed to be a networking and resource tool as well as a forum for new ideas.

We welcome:

• Those wishing to start a new makerspace or build an existing one – who want to know what to buy and how to fundraise;

• Those looking to create fresh and exciting makerspace programs for all ages using the equipment they already have; and

• Those who want to know how to talk to patrons about makerspace services, programs, and equipment – beyond just the buzzwords.

This month, we will meet at NEFLIN, directly after the FABricate Friday event featuring a specail All about Library Makerspaces Focus!  You are welcome to come just for the Interest Group meeting, or register for the workshop to join us for both!

Facilitator: Jeremy Yates, Putnam County Library System

Jeremy Yates is the Special Programs Coordinator and Marketing and Makerspace Manager at the Headquarters Palatka Library. The Putnam County Library System was one of the recipients of a $10,000 Innovation Grant from NEFLIN in 2015, which they used to kick start their mobile makerspace program. Since then, the makerspace has traveled to all five branches of the system (monthly) and to schools and organizations serving children and teens throughout the county (like 4-H and Girl Scouts).

Cost: NEFLIN Interest Groups are free of charge and are open to NEFLIN members only.  Registration is strongly encouraged.
