Owen & Mícheál Moley Ó Súilleabháin are two of Ireland's finest singers, presenters, and story tellers. 

Join us for an evening concert and a day-long workshop of song, myth, poetry, and a couple of good laughs from the Celtic tradition and beyond, and let us warm ourselves by the fire of cheer and good company.

Included in the price of the workshop: The concert on Friday evening, lunch and refreshments on Saturday.

Workshop Description

The ancient Celtic people lived very close to the land. The year was marked by the great agricultural cycles, preparing for the next season and praying, and celebrating, that each season would indeed return.  

As we gather at this time of year, when darkness grows ever darker, we come together to consume and share in the rich harvests that we have sown, matured and reaped at fullest ripeness. The virtuosic expression of grief and beauty, especially in women’s song and poetic tradition, is a great companion as we change spiritual gear now that the sun begins to creep lower in the sky.

This is the season of Samhain which began on Halloween, All Souls’ Day, and runs up to the middle of December or Advent. The Celtic year was divided in two, the dark part of the year and light part. Samhain marked the transition into the darkness. 

This is the time of year where the veil between the human and the divine world is at its thinnest. A time of irruption where boundaries are tested, roles reversed and trickery threatens and reminds us that we must pay out taxes to the invisible world that holds the power to make or break future harvests. Trick or treat . . . .

Biographies

Owen and Mícheál Moley Ó Súilleabháin draw from a huge musical repertoire spanning thousands of years, embodying Ireland in song - Ireland’s oldest tradition, CelticSean Nós; Medieval Gregorian Chant from the Monastic Period; Irish folk songs in English and Gaelic, along with original inspirational pop-songs.

Owen and Moley both entertain and educate through their art form. Their vast musical ability, interwoven with conversation, innocence, stories of life experience, and wicked sense of humor, makes you feel at ease, in awe, and transformed. 

Owen and Moley have recorded ancient sacred chant and performed internationally with their mother, singer and theologian Nóirín Ní Riain, in a trio called AMEN.

Their father, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, is a renowned composer, musicologist, pianist and founder-director of the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance.

The brothers have recorded five studio albums, the latest released by Sounds True, called Fields Of Grace--Celtic Meditation Music from the Heart of Ireland.
