UNC Coastal Studies Institute, Wanchese
Join us for an Earth Day open house of science and family fun! The UNC Coastal Studies Institute in Wanchese will host the event, offering various ongoing activities, and the chance to learn about many local organizations while exploring the facility. For the third year, an Earth Day celebration on the Outer Banks will encourage a large subset of the community to participate, including local businesses, in environmental education awareness.
New to the event this year will be the incorporation of outdoor activities along the canal and wetlands at the Institute’s facility. Additionally, there will be ongoing presentations indoors. One room will feature a speaker series by local professionals, and another will feature a student film festival presentation.
There will be amazing raffle prizes available to win by participating in this event, you will not want to miss out! Each participant will receive a passport to complete during a journey through the Earth Fair; this can be used for one free entry into the raffle. Additional raffle tickets will be on sale during the event for $1. This event is free and open to the public and will take place rain or shine.
This event is made possible thanks to support from: N.C. Coastal Federation, UNC Coastal Studies Institute, N.C. Sea Grant, Jockey’s Ridge State Park, Monitor National Marine Sanctuary, and Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
