Hosted by: Sherwin Williams Paint
Learn about Design & Color Trends for 2017
The state of color has never been more restless. New spirituality, cultural flux, feisty self-expression & soulful nostalgia are combining to paint an emerging portrait of our shared future.
Paint 101: Today's architectural paint and coating products do so much more than protect a substrate and provide color! Recent technological advancements have produced coatings that can also solve problems for commercial and residential interiors and exteriors. Designing a multi-family apartment home? Consider a coating with odor-eliminating technology that can help keep a unit smelling as fresh as move-in day. Looking for an interior paint system for a hospital? Learn how a revolutionary microbicidal paint can offer healthcare facilities an important new tool to help combat certain bacteria that can cause hospital acquired infections. This course will provide you with the fundamentals of different paint systems and the latest technologies so that you can specify coatings that will provide the best outcome for your client.
Course Objectives:
* Review a specification decision tree to identify the best paint system for your project/application
* Learn the importance of selecting the right primer by understanding the role that a primer plays in the long-term outcome of the topcoat
* Learn the performance attributes and recommended applications for the five most common types of architectural topcoats
* Be able to identify different sheen's and know when to use each one
* Discuss the special features of today's most advanced coatings, and consider applications for each technology
* Understand VOCs, regulations and enviromental standards so that you can specify products that meet or exceed enviromental standards
