There are always volunteer opportunities.

among other benefits. We are an all volunteer organization  and your help is GREATLY APPRECIATED! Email Paul taliesin39@aol.com

The DMC is Vegetarian
Although many of us eat meat, there is a No Meat
policy in the temple and on the property. The founder
of the Drikung Kagyu lineage, Lord Jigten Sumgon was
vegetarian (in the 12th century and in Tibet!). Out of respect for the
lineage, please do not bring meat for lunch during the break. There are a number of local restaurants within walking distance.

Ratna Rinpoche

Ontul Rinpoche will be accompanied by his son, H.E. Lho  Orgyen Drodul Dorje Rinpoche, also known as Karma Ratna Rinpoche and was recognized by H.H. Dalai Lama and H.H. Drikung Kyabgon Chetsang as the Quality Emanation of the great Drikung Treasure revealer Lho Nuden Dorje.

a reincarnation of one of the twenty-five original disciples of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava).

Retreat Schedule

Saturday, August 11th
10am - Noon
:  Kurukulle Empowerment
Kurukulle (or Skt. Kurukulla; Tib. Rig Yed Ma)  is an empowerment that is rarely given.
This deity is a form of Red Tara and carries the energy of attracting and magnetizing.
All Tibetan Buddhist practices are done with Bodhicitta- with the motivation to bring benefit to all. One can invoke Kurukulle to bring about world peace or for personal reasons such as winning a job, influencing one's boss, or creating passion or controling emotions such as lust.
2pm - 5pm:  Rainbow Body Healing Chöd

Rinpoche will offer the Healing Chod to heal all varieties of illness
and to remove the karmic obstacles to spiritual growth.

This ceremony is open to both Buddhist and non-Buddhists.
The Healing Chöd is suitable for everyone, including those with either mild or chronic illnesses. Music, prayers, and mantras in the sacred sounds of Sanskrit and Tibetan will be offered; transformative mudras, offerings, and meditation will cut through destructive emotions and repel negative energies and obstacles. Bring a yoga mat or pillow to lie on, relax and receive the healing!

Saturday Schedule
9am  | Shrine room is open for meditation during Rinpoche's self-empowerment
10am - Noon |  Kurukulle empowerment
Noon - 2pm | Lunch break
2pm - 5pm |  Healing Chöd

Sunday, August 12th
10am - Noon: Milarepa Empowerment
Rinpoche will bestow this empowerment to connect deeply with Tibet's
great saint, Milarepa, who attained perfect enlightement in only one

lifetime after having committed the negative deeds of killing 35 people.
He then took the teachings seriously and to heart and after 12 years of practicing,
attained complete enlightenment. If he could do it, so can we! :)

2pm - 5pm: Yogic Teachings on Milarepa's 100,000 Songs

Join us for yogic teachings from a yogic master on Milarepa's 100,000 songs.
We have copies of this Buddhist classic for sale in our Dharma shop at a special price
of only $40 (originally $50) during the retreat.

Lho Ontul Rinpoche - A Brief Biography

Venerable Lho Ontül Rinpoche escaped from Tibet after the Chinese invasion with his teacher Kharnam and his followers in 1960. Rinpoche travelled to India during 1962 where,  until 1965,  did retreat and studied with Khenpo Thubten (introduced to him by the highly realized yogini Drikung Khandro Neni Rinpoche)  in the holy place of Tso Pema (Lotus Lake), India. During 1965, Rinpoche and a group of practitioners established a spiritual community in the hill station of Dharamsala and practiced in a simple tent. During the first ceremony in Tso Pema on Guru Rinpoche Day (Tse chu) they pitched the tent and performed pujas next to this holy lake. During 1965 Rinpoche and the community invited Khenpo Thubten to give teachings and they studied with him until 1970. From there, Rinpoche travelled to Ladakh, India in 1970  and bestowed empowerments on the Himalayan Buddhist peoples. Through the offerings received from this teaching tour,  he purchased land in Tso Pema and started the construction of Wogmin Thubten Shedrup Ling Monastery in 1971.

Ontül Rinpoche received Mahamudra and Dzogchen teachings from great Buddhist masters:  H.H. Dalai Lama, H.H. Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche, H.H. Dudjom Rinpoche, H.H. Dilgo Khyentse Rinpoche, Yogi Pachung Rinpoche, Polu Khenchen Dorje, Ven. Khunu Lama Tenzin Gyaltsen, Kyabje Kalu Rinpoche, Khenpo Khedrup Rinpoche and others. From the yogi Chyunga Rinpoche, Ontül Rinpoche received teachings and personal instructions on the Drigung Kagyu Five-Fold Profound Path of Mahamudra. In the years which followed, Ontül Rinpoche went to Drigung Kagyu Monasteries in Ladakh where he received most of the important empowerments, instructions and oral transmissions of the Drigung Kagyu tradition from H.E. Choje Togden Rinpoche.

It is a rare privilege to meet such a qualified spiritual master who is accessible to practitioners who wish to genuinely embark on the spiritual path. Ontul Rinpoche lives with his wife, Khandro Tashi Drolma together with their son Karma Ratna Rinpoche (an emanation of Nuden Dorje), and their family in Wogmin Thubten Shedrup Ling Gompa next to the Lotus Lake, Tso Pema.

Ven. Ontül Rinpoche holds both the unbroken lineages of the Maha Mudra and Maha Ati transmission of Drigung Kagyu and Nyingma. Rinpoche is a well known Dzogchen Master who has the blessings from His Holiness Dalai Lama, H.H. 16th Gyalwa Karmapa and His Holiness Drigung Kyabgon Chetsang Rinpoche and has many students all over the world,  generously sharing precious Dharma to those interested in learning and practicing. Lho Ontul Rinpoche is a reincarnation of one of the twenty-five original disciples of Guru Rinpoche (Padmasambhava).
