 4th Annual Boston Chenrezig Drubchen

with Lama Konchok Sonam and Khenpo Choephel
October 21st - 23rd 2016

Lama Sonam and Khenpo Choephel

1000-Armed Chenrezig

The 4th Annual Boston Chenrezig Drubchen for Peace with Khenpo Choephel Rinpoche and Lama Konchok Sonam begins on Friday, October 21st at 7pm with a Thousand Armed Chenrezig Empowerment and continues until it ends at 5pm on Sunday, October 23rd.

The practice is maintained by participants for peace, harmony and happiness throughout the world, within our families and amongst our friends.

  • Begins at 7pm on Friday, October 21st with the Thousand Armed Chenrezig Empowerment.
  • Attendence is encouraged... however, a previous Chenrezig empowerment is the only requirement to participate.
  • Enter the Drubchen practice for any length of time as your schedule permits or stay for its entirety.
  • The tremendous blessings are from Chenrezig, the Buddha of Compassion, and come through the Drikung Kagyu lineage as facilitated by two masters of Buddhism, Lama Konchok Sonam and Khenpo Choephel Rinpoche. This is a rare and precious opportunity to give the gift of pure love to our world and to ourselves.

The benefits of the Drubchen also include: increasing prosperity and harmonizing the elements, so that problems like flooding and storms are pacified. We will also dedicate the Drubchen to the Tibetans who bravely self-immolated so that their goal of peace and harmony within their homeland will be realized. May sentient beings everywhere find happiness and be freed from suffering!

    The Meaning of ”Drubchen"
"Drubchen" literally means "great accomplishment" in Tibetan and is one of the most precious forms of Vajrayana Buddhist practice. A Drubchen is a rare opportunity to practice what the Buddha taught: to concentrate body, speech, and mind in spiritual practice, resulting in tremendous benefit to oneself and to others in this and future lives. Participating in a Drubchen is said to generate merit and potential realization equal to one year
of retreat or to seven years of practice. Dedicating it to all sentient beings extends this benefit to the world.

    Joining the Drubchen
The mandala of Chenrezig will be maintained with the support of Khenpo Choephel and Lama Sonam throughout. The Chenrezig empowerment will be bestowed by Khenpo Choepel Rinpoche, the Spirtual Director of Three Rivers Dharma in Pittsburg, PA and our beloved spiritual friend. The evening/night session will offer opportunity to sleep in shifts while maintaining the mandala. Friday evening attendance is encouraged.  However, any previous Chenrezig empowerment is the prerequisite for joining.
Attendance of the entire Drubchen is best, but if this is not possible, please come and go as your schedule permits.

The donation amount to attend is $150 for the entire weekend, all meals included. $125 for members. Please see the Service Offering section below to volunteer or if you cannot afford the entire amount. The daily rate to attend is $60 per day, $50 for members.

    Staying for the Entire Drubchen
Participants who will stay for the entire Drubchen: bring a sleeping bag, towel, and whatever else you need to be comfortable. We will not be showering, but you can wash up. All meals are included. Lama asks that we bring our own cup and bowl as is traditional,  and as a way of simplifying kitchen duties.
