Introduction to The Magic Balafon with Abou Sylla 

The great balafonist Abou Sylla has been performing and teaching in the United States and abroad for the past twenty years. Abou comes from a long line of Sousou balafon players and began his study of the instrument at the age of ten. He is an expert balafon craftsman, handcrafting his balafons using traditional techniques and materials.

As a teacher, this is the man you want to get you started. His clear and easygoing style and simple yet traditional melodies, will welcome you to the bala for the first time. Professional Balafons will be provided or bring your own. They will also be for sale if you'd like to further your explorations with the bala.
