Job Coach Training

MARO is pleased to partner with ASPPIRE   to present a 1-day seminar designed for those that are in the field as job coaches, assisting individuals with disabilities to ensure employment success.

This training will include information on:

  • Roles and responsibilities of a job coach
  • Understanding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Impact of a well-trained job coach
  • Communication skills of a job coach
  • Tools to gather information on the trainee
  • Hands on practice with task analysis
  • Best practices for trainee success

About the presenters:

Maria Peak has worked in the field of special education for Eaton Regional Education Services Association (ERESA) in Charlotte, Michigan from 1985 to 2013.  At ERESA, she was a classroom teacher and the transition coordinator for the county.  In 2013, Maria was the project coordinator for Michigan Transition Outcomes Project, a project funded by IDEA through the Michigan Department of Education, Office of Special Education. In 2015, Maria became the Director of ASPPIRE, a non-profit organization that supports individuals with social difficulties.

 

Bob Steinkamp is a retired special educator serving thirty-six years, including teaching, consulting, and supervising. With two colleagues, he created a social coaching model for young adults on the autism spectrum. Bob is a co-author of the reference and organization system for individuals with social and cognitive challenges titled The Planner Guide, and currently teaches Special Education at the college level. He is the Deputy Director of ASPPIRE.

The seminar begins at 9:00 AM and lasts until 4:00 PM.  Fee includes continental breakfast, lunch and all handout materials. Registrations must be received by August 1, 2016. Cancellations are subject to a $25 processing fee. No refunds will be given after August 1. Substitutions are permitted.
