Introduction to Desktop QuickBooks and Financial Management

Accounting is much more than how you keep score in business. It’s also how you insure your business is healthy and has the resources needed to grow. Whether you use the services of an independent professional like a bookkeeper or accountant, or decide you or a family member will keep the books, you need to understand some accounting basics.

SCORE’s Introduction to Desktop QuickBooks is a simple and hands-on way to get started with the tool that over 4 million US businesses use for their accounting records and financial reporting. We’ll show you how to set up your business file and the mechanics of recording basic transactions with real world examples. More importantly, you’ll learn how accounting and financial reporting are inter-related, helping you understand what is affected by each transaction.

Many business owners get lost in the special language of accounting. When you finish this class, you’ll have a better understanding of those terms and why they are important to you and your business. This is a practical class, not a theoretical lecture about accounting.

While this is a DESKTOP QuickBooks class, registrants may bring their own laptops as you'll have free wifi access.

The Registration Fee for this three hour class is $35.  Each attendee may later personally meet with a SCORE mentor, without cost, to review your use of Quickbooks or address any other business questions you may have.  To assure a superior educational experience, registration is limited to eighteen attendees so please register early.
