The December meeting of the MVEDA Business in the Borderplex Forum will be held on Tuesday, December 1, 2015 from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM at the Hotel Encanto de Las Cruces, 705 S. Telshor. The meeting will begin with a hot entree buffet. This month’s forum will focus on healthcare reform and its impact on economic development.
The forum will feature Dr. Martin Hickey, CEO of the New Mexico Health Connections. Dr. Hickey serves nationally as the Chairman of the Board of the National Alliance of State Health Co-Ops (NASHCO). NMHC was established as a nonprofit, consumer operated and oriented (CO-OP) health plan under the Affordable Care Act to expand health insurance coverage in New Mexico. Its mission is to offer simple, honest, affordable health care coverage options statewide to individuals and employer groups. NMHC outreach includes working with the SHOP across the state as well as advocacy groups and community-based health organizations to raise awareness of coverage options to previously or currently uninsured and underinsured New Mexicans. NMHC’s innovative medical model focuses on reducing long-term healthcare costs by helping members attain and manage their own optimal health. In that regard, NMHC is more than a health plan; it is a plan for health.
