Dysgraphia - From Pen to Paragraph

This workshop is designed for practitioners who:
1.) have knowledge of the importance of cursive handwriting in multisensory reading instruction,
2.) have had prior exposure in cursive handwriting techniques for students with dysgraphia,
3.) have an awareness of the possible visual barriers to learning to write.
We will provide a brief overview of actual handwriting techniques as a refresher, and then progress quickly to instruction of syntax at the sentence level, both oral and written for the 14 basic sentence structures found in English, the importance of mechanics instruction for sentence writing, and techniques for paragraph development, along with a discussion on why technology should not necessarily be included as an instructional methodology at the lower levels. We will also explain when assistive technology will be beneficial and who it will benefit.
