Nonprofit Seminar: Management Tools - 09/21/2020 - C0405

Good management practices are key to success for nonprofits and are often ignored. This course discusses the necessary actions and documents to support good nonprofit management. The roles and responsibilities of the Board & Executive Director are also described. Since volunteers are so critical to a nonprofit, working with volunteers and staff is emphasized. Helpful management tools are provided, including an exercise on effective communication methods that are important in nonprofit businesses.

About the Speaker

John Edwards

Dr. John Edwards has over 30 years of management experience with both for-profit and nonprofit businesses. His industrial experience was in the semiconductor industry where he worked for startups, medium-sized and large companies. In the nonprofit world, John has run nonprofits and has been board chair for two. He has more than 20 years’ experience as a SCORE counselor, mentor and lecturer during which time he has worked with more than 1000 business owners in all stages of the business cycle—including startup, growth, turn-around and sale. John teaches numerous business courses and seminars that emphasize innovation, entrepreneurship and business-planning needs for both profit and nonprofit businesses. As a SCORE mentor, John specializes in helping nonprofit businesses.
