Advanced Disordered Gambling Training. Adult ADHD and Problem Gambling: A Hidden Disorder 

Join us for an Advanced Disordered Gambling Training as we welcome Dr. Rory Reid form the UCLA Gambling Studies Program. Breakfast and lunch will be provided and space is limited so reserve your spot today! Sign-in and breakfast will begin at 8:30am and the training will begin promptly at 9:00am.

The training will provide 6 CEU's for social workers, counselors, and gambling counselors as well as 6 RCH's for chemical dependency counselors.
Prerequisite: Stages 1 and 2 or approved gambling counseling training

Adult ADHD and Problem Gambling: A Hidden Disorder

Research indicates a disproportionate number of problem gamblers also meet diagnostic criteria for adult ADHD. There are unique aspects of this comorbidity that can be challenging for behavioral health providers. In this presentation, Dr. Reid will discuss assessment and differential diagnostic issues for ADHD, vulnerability factors, treatment, and how aspects of mindfulness can help attenuate both ADHD and gambling problems. The latest findings from the scientific literature about ADHD and neuroscience will also be addressed. Finally, Dr. Reid will offer pragmatic solutions and empirically supported interventions for problem gamblers with ADHD.

§  Participants will learn about the common denominators that link adult ADHD and gambling disorders including insights from research using neuroimaging and the brain.

§  Participants will learn about some of the unique assessment issues in diagnosing adult ADHD among gamblers.

§  Participants will learn about empirically supported treatments for adult ADHD in problem gamblers.
