Spring Lecture

You are invited to the ACHS Spring Lecture, "Creating Flannery O'Connor: Her Critics, Her Publishers, Her Readers," presented by Dr. Daniel Moran.

We may now regard Flannery O’Connor as a great American Catholic author, but this was not always the case.  How were her books received upon their first publication?  What factors, besides her talent, led to O’Connor’s current status?  And what does O’Connor’s story suggest about the nature of literary reputations?

More Event Details

Dr. Daniel Moran (Ph.D, Drew University) is a high school educator who also teaches writing at Rutgers University and history at Monmouth University. He has published articles on G.K. Chesterton and John Ford as well as numerous freelance pieces. Creating Flannery O’Connor (University of Georgia Press, 2016) is his first book.
