 "Assessing Learners"

Workshop Description: An interactive workshop for participants to gain an understanding of learner assessments and apply principles of learner assessments in practice scenarios.  Participants will brainstorm assessment tools for both clinical assessments and classroom-based assessments.  Using cases and role plays participants will select appropriate assessment tools and practice assessing a learner’s knowledge through questioning.

 Goal: The purpose of the session is to enhance participants’ knowledge and comfort with areas of assessment, various ACGME assessment tools, and apply principles of assessment using paper cases and role plays.

1. Define and discuss learning domains and principles of assessment.
2. Practice using questions to assess a learner’s knowledge.
3. Describe R.I.M.E.
4. Select appropriate assessment tools from the ACGME toolbox for various case scenarios.
