Earth Day Fair

Earth

Local schools celebrate Earth Day with Thunder Bay National Marine Sanctuary.

At this second annual event students in grades 3-6 are invited to navigate through "Earth Day Stations" set up throughout the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center. Each station focuses on different aspects of the environment and will be manned by sanctuary partners including the Besser Museum for Northeast Michigan, Sprinkler Lake Education Center, Huron Pines, US Fish and Wildlife Service, Resource Recovery, 4-H, and Northeast Michigan Great Lakes Stewardship Initiative. Highlights include live sea lamprey, a working river watershed model, underwater robot demonstrations and more!

Made possible with funding from 4H20 Water Quality Educational Program with a grant from Toyota USA, students will also enjoy performances by nationally recognized children’s performing artists and filmmakers Sisbro Studios (www.sisbro.com).

The 2011 Earth Day celebration at the Great Lakes Maritime Heritage Center promises to be an exciting and educational event!  Media are welcome to attend.
