Conference Activities

Sunday Golf Outing

The Golf Outing will be held at the Toftrees Golf Resort & Conference Center in State College, PA on August 28^th. Here’s your chance to play a fantastic course with your colleagues. Tee time will be at 1:00PM with a shotgun start and scramble play. The fee will be $60/golfer and registration is limited to the first 40 golfers. If you want to request a specific foursome, please send an email to Mark Transue, EIT at mtransue@gfnet.com following registration.

Sunday Night Cookout

For those arriving Sunday evening for the conference and golfers finishing up their round; MASITE and ITSPA will be hosting a cookout and tailgate. You, your peers, and friends will be able to sit around a fire and enjoy the scenery with an ice cold cocktail. We will be providing you with dinner, lawn games, and in addition, you will have access to the Toftrees pool and chipping green. Attention MASITE members, this is your chance to avenge two disappointing consecutive loses at the MASITE/ITSPA Golf Outing, that’s gotta hurt to lose to a bunch of techies…

The cookout and tailgate will begin at 5:00pm with dinner around 6:00pm. Price is included in your full registration or $25 for one-day registrants and guests.

Monday Night Quizzo

The Monday night social will be held in the conference center’s Aspen Room with all of our vendors and exhibitors. There will be heavy appetizers and cocktails so you can loosen up a bit, talk shop, and see new innovative products up close and personal. You will also have the option to showcase your book smarts against some of your peers on the big screen: via quizzo! MASITE and ITSPA both feel strongly about supporting our vendors and exhibitors as they are vital to our societies and to our industry.

The Monday night social will begin at 5:00pm and go until 7:00pm leaving you with plenty of time to get some dinner at “The Field” (onsite Burger and Tap house) or head downtown for dinner and a nightcap. Price included in your full or one-day registration.

Test Track/Responder Day

The connected and autonomous event at The Thomas D. Larson Pennsylvania Transportation Institute’s Test Track will showcase connected vehicle technologies and demonstrate their safety benefits for emergency responders, road side workers, and the general public. This will include a staged roadside incident with connected responder vehicles equipped with DSRC radios that will broadcast crash avoidance warning messages. The following RESCUEME demonstration will have the following components:

• Regular vehicle receiving warning messages
• Responder receives audible warning sent at specified intervals to provide 3 levels of warning:
  • Far but be aware – slow steady beeps on responder body radio
  • Closer within decision zone – faster steady beeps on responder body radio
  • Crash Imminent – Responder vehicle’s lights and sirens are activated and corresponding responder body radio sound

Additionally, there will be an autonomous truck demonstration in which the truck would recognize the crash scene and/or police officer standing in the lane in front of their vehicle and come to a stop; an automated vehicle demonstrating features would adjust to the scene appropriately; and, a police guidance demonstration showing a police vehicle entering the closed lane and autonomous vehicles would follow through the crash scene.
