Please join the Northwest China Council's China Education Network for a presentation by Alison Stenger and her research on ancient ceramics.
Her talk focuses upon what we learn about ancient Chinese culture, through
millennia of ceramics. From that legacy in fired clay, we learn that 2,000 years
ago the Chinese decorated their horses for battle. We also see how women's
fashions and preferred body types changed in the 9th century. We see ways in
which the Chinese embraced Confucianism and later Buddhism, changing
attitudes about such practices as human sacrifice.
Light refreshments will be served.
