Trends in technology industry, including impact from tariffs and emerging technologies

Description
Communications and technology companies have been deepening their involvement in the software-defined space as they are dealing with effects of cloud computing and the virtualization of networking functions. This shift to a software-centric model has been deemed inevitable and irreversible and is significantly disrupting traditional industrial markets and companies business models by shifting to recurring revenue, subscription-based consumption and higher software sales at better gross margins.

Will the imposed Tariffs on Hardware drive companies to accelerate the shift to this Software-centric model, and will it drive the industry faster to a lasting improved operating profits and gross margins?

Additionally, will leveraging emerging technologies such as the Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence and Security drive an increasing percentage of revenues to come from their digital transformation efforts and further drive these potentially titanic shifts?
