LOCATION: Start at Sound Side Park in Surf City, walk over the bridge at sunset and back. End back at Sound Side.
TIME: Meet at 7 pm on September 7th
HIKE DESCRIPTION: Scale the highest heights in the coastal section of the MST on the newly opened Surf City Bridge at sunset. The bridge has a dedicated pedestrian lane, making this a kid-friendly, dog-friendly hike. The sunset is around 7:30, so we'll gather at 7, and set off shortly thereafter to catch the sunset from the peak of the bridge. Some hikers enjoy stopping on the mainland side to enjoy drinks or dinner before heading back. Your choice! The hike will be led by MST section hiker Kimberly Briggs and Surf City's planner Mike Dickson. Kimberly can answer questions about hiking the MST and Mike can share about the town's work on the trail and the new bridge.
LENGTH OF HIKE: 1.5 Miles
DIFFICULTY: Moderate
MEETING LOCATION: Sound Side Park, 517 Roland Ave, Surf City, NC 28445.
HIKE LEADER: Mike Dickson and Kimberly Briggs, kbriggs62@aol.com
DONATIONS WELCOME. WHILE THE HIKE IS FREE, WE WELCOME YOU TO BUY A SHIRT AND CONTRIBUTE TO HELP FRIENDS OF THE MST CONTINUE TO BUILD, PROTECT AND PROMOTE THE TRAIL FOR YOU AND OTHERS TO ENJOY FOR YEARS TO COME. THANK YOU.
