The presenter will discuss a Security Self-Assessment initiative across community colleges to identify and remediate potential risks to minimize security breaches and leakages.
CIS Critical Conrols
Presenter: Jeff Holden
Did you know that the California Attorney General defined what reasonable security controls are? This was defined in the 2016 California Breach Report, and the main take away was that the CIS Critical Controls is required of any institution collecting and storing private and sensitive information. This presentation will go over the controls and how you can implement them at your campus.
Computer Forensics
Presenter: Steven Alexander
Many IT departments are asked to participate in HR investigations in order to gather and analyze digital evidence. This presentation will cover the risks involved and steps to address them. Topics will include authorization, seizure and documentation, and forensic imaging. We will use forensic software and hardware to do a short demonstration.
The Information Security Workshop is organized and presented by Jeff Holden, Chief Information Security Officer of the CCC Information Security Center.

January 10 - Electronic/IT Accessibility Workshop
The CCC Accessibility Center, in partnership with the High Tech Center Training Unit, presents the Electronic and IT Accessibility Workshop. This day-long event will emphasize strategies and solutions for incorporating accessibility into electronic and information technology practices at the college and district level.
Nationally, higher education institutions are facing increased scrutiny on policies and procedures specific to Web and information technology accessibility for students, faculty, and staff with disabilities. In California, numerous community colleges received letters threatening legal action this past year regarding potential accessibility issues with the college's web presence.
Outcomes from lawsuits and settlement agreements provide an outline as to what should be considered for institutional policies as well as internal campus processes. The IT Accessibility Workshop will delve into these issues and provide an opportunity for participants to discuss current challenges and share ideas for creating a diverse campus community that includes Web and information technology access.
